Happy New Year

Hello everyone!  Today is the Lunar New Year and the Chinese Year of the Horse. The horse is part of a 12-year-cycle of animals that make up the Chinese zodiac. These interact with the five elements: wood, metal, fire, water, earth. 2014 is the year of the wood horse, taking over from the year of the water snake.

Here is a card I made using the Pop It Ups Oval Accordion card die to celebrate the occassion. I have also used the Kimono die from Elizabeth Craft Designs. I cut one layer using gold foil paper and the solid image using cardstock covered with double sided adhesive.  After applying the outline, I used Red Silk Microfine glitter. The paper used is the Graphic 45 Birdsong Collection. I have accented the lantern is red/gold glitter dots.

Here is the card opened up. I made the red envelope using my We R Memory keepers envelope punch board. Red envelopes are gifts presented at social and family gatherings such as weddings or on holidays such as the Chinese New Year. The red color of the envelope symbolizes good luck and is supposed to ward off evil spirits.

The colors used:
Pink: FS8, FS6, CR3, CR2
Yellow: CT2, CT4
Green: DG2, DG4
Purple: PL2, PL3

Owl Always Love You

Hello everyone! Valentines day is quickly approaching. I wanted to make some cards that were fun, quick, and easy to mass produce. I used the new Pop It Ups Oval Accordion Card die to make this quick and easy card.

I am also loving the new All Seasons Tree die. It was easy to cut these for the cards. I was using paint strips to make the hearts so I chose to use the EK success mini heart punch. The stamp set are from two Studio G clear stamps/

Here is the card in progress and some of the supplies used.

Here is the final card put together. It is a real whoot!

I wish I loved not using "traditional" Valentines Day colors.
